Swiss Album of the Year 2019

We are very proud to share this news with you : our last album « DATA MIRAGE TANGRAM » has won the « IndieSuisse Album of the Year 2019 Award ».

As a member of IMPALA (Independent Music Companies Association), IndieSuisse will submit the album for the European Independent Album of the Year Award. Let’s cross our fingers and wait. To be continued…

The ceremony for the Swiss Award will take place on March 19th at MOODS, Zürich, during the m4music festival.

It’s the sixth time already and yet we’re still excited to celebrate a premiere: IndieSuisse, the association of Swiss music labels and producers, will award the album of the year with a new, dedicated award night on Thursday 19.03.2020 at Moods, Schiffbau, Zurich as the opening night to the m4music festival.

In addition to the existing award, the association is now presenting two more awards: the «Futuristic Perspective Award» and an award that goes to a person or institution that has attracted particular attention in the music scene. The winners of these new awards will only be announced at the award night.

The «IndieSuisse Album Of The Year 2019 Award» goes to the album «Data Mirage Tangram» by The Young Gods. The IndieSuisse Album of the Year 2019 Award will be celebrated on 19.03.2020 during the m4music Festival. In addition, «Data Mirage Tangram» will be running for the IMPALA European Independent Album of the Year 2019 Award.

IndieSuisse was founded in February 2014 with the aim of having a say in political and economic matters and of having a say in decision-making – on both national and international terrain. As a member of IMPALA (Independent Music Companies Association), IndieSuisse is submitting an album for the European Independent Album of the Year Award for the fifth time in a row: This time it is «Data Mirage Tangram», the latest release by Geneva electro avant-gardists The Young Gods. The album was released on February 22, 2019 on the label Two Gentlemen label based in Lausanne and was chosen by a 25-member jury as «IndieSuisse Album of the Year 2019».

IndieSuisse is convinced that the independent music scene in Switzerland deserves its own music award. This award is not tied to sales figures or large advertising budgets. Last November all members of IndieSuisse had the opportunity to nominate two of their releases from 2019 for the «IndieSuisse Album of the Year» and the «Futuristic Perspective Award» respectively. For the latter, members had to argue why the album they nominated offered a futuristic perspective. From a total of 26 nominated albums, «Data Mirage Tangram» by The Young Gods came in first for the «Album Of The Year Award» selected by an independent jury of Swiss and German industry specialists. The association paid great attention to select a gender-balanced jury.

IndieSuisse is very happy to have the Migros Culture Percentage as a suitable presenting partner for the IndieSuisse Album of the Year Award. «Data Mirage Tangram» will be awarded on 19.03.2020 as part of m4music, the pop music festival of the Migros Culture Percentage. As the Association of Swiss music labels and producers, IndieSuisse hopes that the IndieSuisse Album of the Year award will raise awareness and appreciation of the independent music scene in Switzerland and its professional structures. Festival Antigel is hosting the m4music Festival as a guest on 15.02.20 in Geneva while the m4music Festival takes place on 19 – 21.03.2020 in Zurich.
